Fire Breaks Out On Madagascar-Flagged Oil Tanker 'Marivex' Off Oman Coast; All 24 Indian Crew Members Safe

An oil tanker named Marivex caught fire off the coast of Oman at 1:30 PM local time with 24 Indian seafarers on board, all of whom have been reported safe.

New Delhi: On Monday, India's shipping ministry said that there were reports of fire on an oil tanker, named Marivex. That fire was erupted off the coast of Oman with 24 sailor on board. Ministry also added that, all of them are safe.

What a director said?

Opesh Kumar Sharma, a director in the federal port and shipping ministry, said, “All Indian seafarers are presently safe. We are coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs, our Indian missions abroad, the Indian Navy, and the Ministry of Defense to ensure their safety”

When the fire was hit?

The Madagascar flagged vessel was not carrying cargo, Sharma told in the press conference.
Fire hit the vessel at 1:30 PM local time.
He also added that the cause of fire was not immediately known.
